Homesteader Days  July 11-12, 2008

Parades, concessions, crafts, beer garden, BBQs, a night show, Kiddie rides, and fireworks in honor of the homesteaders who settled the area.  Sponsored by the Huntley Project Lions and Lionesses.  This is small town tradition at it’s finest.  The community comes together to celebrate their special place.  Relatives and friends come back every year to eat a chicken dinner in the shade of the giant cottonwood trees, catching up on family news and the weather.  They bring their children to share in the community spirit.

Threshing Bee August 17-18, 2008

See threshing wheat the old fashioned way!  Tractor pulls, food, children’s events, parades, demonstrations, and a display of restored antique vehicles.  A wheat field is harvested with binderers and headers and threshed both days.   Sponsored by the Antique Tractor & Machinery Association.

There is nothing like being here and experiencing a steam engine tractor operating with wood smoke billowing, steam whistling, gears and pulleys whirling, and the earth shaking as it rolls down the field.  You can talk to the men and women who restore these antique machines from rusting hulks.  They are also skilled craftsmen, as the early day farmers had to be.
